Farewell Karma, hello chaat
The owners of one of West Kirby’s longest established restaurants are to close it for a major revamp which will see it relaunched with a different name and a new concept.
Karma on Grange Road, which has been open since 2002, will shut on 24 March, to make way for a new concept called ‘chaat’, focusing on Indian tapas thalis and cocktails. Read more.
Creative, scientific and heritage plan for Hilbre buildings
A plan to turn dilapidated buildings on Hilbre Island into a centre for creative, scientific and heritage activity has been revealed.
The British Art and Design Association (BADA), the Friends of Hilbre and the Hilbre Island Bird Observatory are forming a community land trust with the aim of assuming responsibility for the structures. Read more.
Is your road set to be improved?
Wirral Council has announced the list of roads and pavements that will receive planned maintenance over the coming year.
A total of 40 roads in West Kirby, Hoylake, Meols and Thurstaston will receive work. Read more.
Developer revises plans for homes on bungalow site
Scaled back plans have been submitted in an attempt to secure permission to demolish a large detached bungalow in West Kirby and replace it with houses.
The proposed scheme at 15 Grosvenor Avenue now comprises two semis and one detached home. Read more.
Fun day for children at Hoylake Lawn Tennis Club
A free fun day for youngsters aged four and upwards is taking place at Hoylake Tennis Club on Sunday 24 March.
It includes games, a bouncy castle and prizes - simply turn up from 2-5pm to get involved - you don’t need to be a member.

The LAKE gallery is bringing the paintings of Shropshire artist Nina Archer and Yorkshire-based Clare Maria Wood to West Kirby in its latest exhibition (above). 'Beneath the Surface' runs until 6 April, and the gallery is open Thursday to Saturday, 10am - 4pm.
Hoylake Artisan Market takes place on Saturday 23 March from 11am - 4pm at the Ship Inn.
West Kirby Bookshop on Grange Road has several events up and coming: an evening with debut novelist Fiona Williams at 7pm on Wednesday 20 March; meet best selling author Nathan Hill at 7pm on Thursday 21 March; and there’s an evening with Flora Carr, who has written a book reimagining Mary Queen of Scots, at 7pm on Tuesday 26 March.
