Police appeal following racist attack on bus in Hoylake
Detectives have issued a CCTV image of a man who could assist them following a racially motivated attack on a bus in Hoylake.
The incident happened when an older man approached the victim and shouted racist abuse before spitting on him and biting his wrist and finger. Read more.
£23 million boost for Wirral’s economy from The Open
The 151st Open at Royal Liverpool in Hoylake attracted 261,000 visitors and generated more than £23 million for Wirral’s economy.
The championship, held last July, delivered a total of £43 million when the wider city region is taken into account, according to an independent study commissioned by The R&A, which organises the event. Read more.
Final chance to have a say over Hoylake beach options
A consultation on two proposed options for the future management of Hoylake beach will close on Monday 25 March.
Wirral Council says both options “aim to balance providing safe access for RNLI life-saving operations while retaining some amenity beach space and vegetation”. Read more.
Swimathon at Calday Pool raises thousands for refurb
Calday Grange swimming pool hosted an overnight swimathon and cake sale to raise much-needed funds for its upgrade.
A total of 30 swimming club members and members of the public of all abilities swam 3,264 lengths – equal to 51 miles, or a return trip across the English Channel. Read more.
50th birthday celebrations at West Kirby Concourse
West Kirby Concourse is turning 50 on Saturday 23 March.
To celebrate they are holding an extra special birthday dance fit class from 11:30am - 12:30pm, with no need to book.

Things to do - what’s on!
Hoylake Artisan Market takes place on Saturday 23 March from 11am - 4pm at the Ship Inn.
A free fun day for youngsters aged four and upwards is taking place at Hoylake Tennis Club on Sunday 24 March. It includes games, a bouncy castle and prizes - simply turn up from 2-5pm to get involved - you don’t need to be a member.
West Kirby Bookshop on Grange Road presents an evening with Flora Carr, who has written a book re-imagining Mary Queen of Scots, at 7pm on Tuesday 26 March. For more information and tickets call into the shop or visit https://thewestkirbybookshop.com
