Wirral West MP’s farewell message
Wirral West MP Margaret Greenwood has paid tribute to her constituents as she formally stepped down from parliament.
The MP has represented our area since 2015, when she defeated the sitting Conservative MP Esther McVey. Read more.
Father and son scale Everest for dementia charity
Paul and Aaron Anderson from West Kirby have become the first father and son to successfully climb to the summit of Mount Everest from Tibet.
They reached the peak to raise funds for Dementia UK in honour of their mother and grandmother, who is living with vascular dementia. Read more.
Dyslexia award for West Kirby School and College
West Kirby School and College have achieved the Dyslexia Friendly Quality Mark, awarded by the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) – becoming one of only two schools in Wirral to hold the accreditation.
It is only issued to those schools or organisations who, after a rigorous verification process, demonstrate that they provide high-quality educational experiences for Dyslexic individuals. Read more.
Six-year-old sails to Hilbre in aid of RNLI
A six-year-old boy has sailed from West Kirby to Hilbre Island, raising more than £1,500 for the RNLI.
Theo completed the challenge on Tuesday 28 May in his optimist dinghy. Read more.
Things to do - what’s on!
The Friends of Hilbre Island open day takes place on Sunday 2 June from midday - 3.30pm. There is a seal watch, history tours and refreshments. Check the tides before you set off at https://www.tidetimes.org.uk/hilbre-island-tide-times.
