Sponsored climb to mark opening of new wall in memory of Jessica Baker
A 12 hour climb in aid of charity is to take place in November at the new climbing wall built in tribute to West Kirby Grammar School pupil Jessica Baker.
The 15-year-old died in September 2023 when a bus she was travelling on with fellow students crashed on the M53. Read more.
Christmas lights switch-on details revealed
West Kirby Christmas Lights have announced details of their switch on this year.
It will take place at the plaza outside the Concourse on Grange Road on Saturday 23 November. Read more.
Opposition mounts to parking charges proposal
Campaigners and councillors fighting a proposal to introduce parking charges on South Parade in West Kirby have taken to the streets to garner support.
The proposal from the minority Labour-controlled authority would mean drivers having to pay £1.20 an hour to park on the fronts in West Kirby, Hoylake and Meols, up to a maximum of £6. There would also be a fee of £1 to park overnight, from 6.30pm to 8am. Read more.

Wirral-born singer heads home on world tour
Wirral-born singer James Kirby is performing at West Kirby Arts Centre on Saturday 2 November as part of the UK leg of his world tour.
He has built a loyal international fan base over recent years, selling out venues and captivating audiences worldwide with his mellow voice and distinctive percussive guitar playing.
James told us: “This is the closest show I’ve ever played to my birthplace and I am so excited to bring my songs to the area. I hope to see you there.”

Tickets are now available for West Kirby Musical Theatre Company’s performance of Disney’s ‘Beauty and the Beast – The Broadway Musical’. It is being staged at the historic Gladstone Theatre in Port Sunlight from Wednesday 6 November to Saturday 9 November at 7:30pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2:30pm.
