Work to start demolishing Ashton Court
The former Ashton Court sheltered accommodation block in West Kirby is to be demolished next month.
It will pave the way for the construction of 14 new homes in a scheme that was opposed by Wirral Council’s planning committee but given the green light by an independent inspector on appeal. Read more.

A talented young performer from West Kirby is set to dazzle audiences across the UK and Europe as a dancer in the award-winning production, Totally Tina.
Former Hilbre High School pupil and Liverpool Theatre School graduate, Georgia Amery, was invited to join the cast after impressing the panel during auditions for the smash-hit show, which brings together the best of Tina Turner’s iconic performances. Read more.
Archaeological dig for Viking boat in Meols pub car park
Archaeologists want to discover if a Viking boat is buried underneath the car park of the Railway pub in Meols.
There has been speculation about the ancient boat for many years – and now a proper investigation is to be carried out. Read more.
What next for Hoylake library?
Wirral Council has received enquiries from three organisations interested in leasing the former Hoylake library.
It comes after the council agreed to market the site for commercial leasing or sale, following its closure last year due to budget cuts. Read more.

Printworks is a new exhibition at The Lake Gallery on Grange Road, featuring the work of eight artists. It celebrates the art of contemporary printmaking, showcasing a wide range of methods. It is on until 25 March - the gallery is open from 10am - 4pm every Thursday, Friday and Saturday
Open mic night every Monday evening from 8pm at West Kirby Social Club on Banks Road
Open stage with live music and poetry every Friday @ West Kirby Arts Centre from 7pm - 10pm (entry £3)
